How to ask
What separates a question that gets an accepted answer within the hour from one that collects three clarifying comments and dies.
A question that gets answered here has four properties. It asks one identifiable thing, it states what has already been tried, it includes the specifics somebody would otherwise have to ask for, and it says what a satisfactory answer would look like. That is the whole of it, and it is worth ten minutes because the alternative is a thread of clarifying comments and no answer.
One identifiable thing
"How do I do peptides properly" is not a question, it is a subject area. "Does adding 3 mL rather than 2 mL to a 10 mg vial cost me anything other than fridge space?" is a question, and it has an answer.
The test: could someone write a correct answer that another reader would recognise as complete? If the answer would have to open by asking you what you meant, it is not one question yet.
State the specifics
The specifics that get requested most often, in order:

Before and after
Before: "My sema went cloudy, is it bad?"
Four things are missing and every one of them changes the answer: whether it was cloudy on reconstitution or became cloudy later, how long it has been in solution, at what temperature, and in what diluent. As written, the honest answer is "possibly", which helps nobody.
After: "Semaglutide 10 mg reconstituted in 2 mL bacteriostatic water, clear for the first fortnight, developed a faint haze at day 19 held at 4 °C in the door shelf of a domestic fridge. The haze does not settle overnight and there are no discrete specks against a black card. Vial pierced eight times with a 30G needle. Is this aggregation or growth, and does it distinguish on inspection alone?"
That question got an accepted answer in under an hour, because there was nothing left to ask.
Say what would count as an answer
One sentence, at the end. "I am looking for the mechanism, not the management" or "a primary source would settle it" or "I want the arithmetic laid out so I can redo it with my own numbers". It costs you nothing and it prevents the most frustrating outcome on any Q&A site, which is a perfectly good answer to a question you did not ask.
What gets a question closed

A closed question is not deleted. Roughly four per cent of the questions on this site are closed and most of them still carry useful answers, which is why they remain visible.
And on answering
- Answer first, justify second. Lead with the answer. The reasoning belongs underneath it, not in front of it.
- Show the working. An arithmetic answer that states only the result is unverifiable and therefore useless.
- Cite it. Trial name, journal, year. Certificate lot and laboratory. If you cannot cite it, say that you cannot.
- Say where the evidence stops. The most valuable sentence in many answers here is the one identifying which part is established and which part is inference.
- Do not answer a different question. If the question is badly posed, ask for clarification in a comment rather than answering the question you wish had been asked.
