The honest answer is that a liquefied cold pack on arrival is expected rather than alarming.

Reported ranges from Chinese origins to western Europe cluster around nine to fourteen days with tracking, with inland origins adding a domestic leg and coastal ones sometimes beating the range.

A liquefied pack on arrival is the expected outcome rather than evidence of a problem. A single-use logger, not a heavier pack, is what turns this from speculation into a record.

The part that matters: anything shipped in solution is a genuinely different risk, because hydrolysis and deamidation proceed in the aqueous phase and are strongly temperature-dependent.

If temperature genuinely matters for what you ordered, the answer is a data logger rather than a better cold pack.

A single-use temperature data logger costs a few pounds and converts speculation into a record. If the temperature history matters to you, buy one rather than arguing about packaging.

The underlying point is that a single phase-change pack in a thin-walled box holds below ten degrees for roughly one to two days at twenty-five degrees ambient and under a day at thirty-five. On a twelve-day lane the material is at ambient for most of the journey regardless of what was packed.

A cold pack that arrived hard tells you about the last day of transit and nothing about the first eleven.

Ask for a hold during a heatwave. The better suppliers agree without being pushed.

Start with the physical state. Lyophilised powder is stable at ambient for the duration of any normal lane; anything in solution is a different conversation entirely.

That is the argument for shipping lyophilised. A dry powder with low residual moisture is chemically stable at ambient for months; the degradation pathways that matter need water.

The relevant detail is that summer lanes are worse than winter lanes for the pack and no different for the solid, which is why the seasonal anxiety is largely misdirected.

Phase-change pack hold times are a function of mass, latent heat and box insulation, and published figures for small parcels are on the order of a day or two.

The caveat is that a warm transit is survivable for a solid and not for a solution, and the difference is not marginal.

A liquefied pack on arrival is expected. It is not evidence of a problem.

Tracking that updates at every hop is a better supplier signal than the transit time itself.

Asking a supplier to hold a shipment during a heatwave is a reasonable request that the better ones honour, and it costs a week rather than an order.

Judge the lane by tracking continuity rather than by days elapsed.

Tracking quality is the more informative signal: continuous scanning at every hop indicates a real logistics chain, and a tracking number that goes dark for a week indicates something else.

Solid-state stability of lyophilised peptides at ambient is well documented in formulation studies, with residual moisture as the dominant variable.

The caveat is that none of this makes an unapproved product safe or lawful to use. It reduces one category of uncertainty — what is in the vial — and leaves every other category untouched.

Buy a data logger if the temperature history genuinely matters to you.
